How can we know God?
In The Naturalist’s Dilemma, I used a video of C.S. Lewis’s famous 1961 article, “Finding Shakespeare” to explain the problem we have with trying to find God in this world. In other words, how would Hamlet find Shakespeare since he … Continue reading

Thoughts about intimacy
When we talk about God, we’re talking about relationship before anything else. Before all creation, there was mutually shared love between the Father and the Son (John 17:24). This is important because God is love, and for Him to be … Continue reading

Jesus Christ: Savior of the world – Part Five

Enthusiasm: the mystery of God in us!
Enthusiasm is a heart word. When you’re enthusiastic, you’re living from the heart…you’re touching God! It’s becoming like a little child, which is the way of heaven. It’s when you’re most fully alive. If you understand Greek you probably vaguely … Continue reading

Becoming human – part one
The goal of discipleship is to become like Christ, which means becoming authentically human. Many Christians seem to think that being spiritually mature means God wants to dissolve us into nothingness. This idea finds its origin in pagan religion, not Christianity.

Are sinners separated from God? Part one
Does sin separate us from God? Is there a big chasm between a holy God and sinners? You will most likely say, yes. I’ve said yes for about 30 years of my Christian life. But I would like to faithfully question that assumption today.

Are anger and wrath attributes of God? Part two
We’ve been faithfully questioning our assumptions about the anger and wrath of God. Last time, I made the point that they should not be considered attributes because God does not eternally express these emotions within the Godhead. (If you have not read part one, … Continue reading
