Let’s party like it’s 1984!

“It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.” (Orwell, 1984). We had an interesting conversation about the destruction of words over at Insanitybytes22’s blog with her post, “The Word of the Day is Fortify.” You should check that out. I will continue my thoughts about it here. Of course, George Orwell was wrong about one thing in predicting his dystopian future. He was 37 years too early.

Now, before I continue, this post is a companion piece to a post I wrote titled, “You are Harrison Bergeron!” about how events in 2020 eerily took on the nature of two classic dystopian novels: Orwell’s “1984” and Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron.”

This destruction of words by changing their meaning is the M.O. of the political left* so that the unsuspecting public stays ignorant of their real agenda. For instance, when VP Harris says “equity” she means equal outcome, which sounds better than the pure Marxist socialism it actually is. When President Biden says he wants “unity” he means compliance and submission to their one-party rule.

“But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.” (1984)

And that’s bring us to our conversation about the word “fortify.” This comes from a recent Time Magazine article by Molly Ball titled, The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.” As the Epoch Times op-ed, “Time Magazine Details the ‘Shadow Campaign’ Against Trump,” pointed out:

“While their intent was to show the “heroic” effort of the left to save America from a Trump reelection, they admit there was “a loose coalition of Democratic operatives, grassroots activists, mainstream media, tech companies, and corporate CEOs” working together to sway the election in Biden’s favor. It also notes how Time admitted this well-funded cabal had control over every aspect of the election, including Antifa and BLM protests….”

As the Epoch Times by-line summarized it:

“They were not rigging the election; they were ‘fortifying’ it.”

You see, “fortify” now means that the ends always justify the means when it concerns keeping the ruling class in power.

“Power is not a means; it is an end.” (1984)

The article is right; it was a “bipartisan effort.” There were certainly crony Republicans included in this cabal. They were the “Never-Trumpers” who were horrified by his policies that put the average American workers ahead of the corporate elites who make their profit from Chinese slave labor. After all… “The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power – pure power.’” (1984)

It was also the Big Tech oligarchs controlling the information flow, destroying their competition, and wielding total authoritarian power from their lofty Silicon Valley throne to de-platform even the most powerful leader in the free world—the President of the United States.

Yes, Molly, this cabal’s fight was “heroic” because order and peace has been restored. Their ongoing refeudalization project is back on track. The Inner Party has regained control from the uprising of the deplorable Proles.

This is why their campaign doublespeak doesn’t mean anything. You didn’t actually think this cabal had your best interests in mind, did you? They will say anything to get elected and gain power. Truth does not matter, only staying in power does. And, as we saw from the MSM and Big Tech alliance, if you say something over and over, it doesn’t matter if it’s true, it becomes the truth.

“The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.” (1984)

So, the destruction of words is truly a remarkable thing in our current “1984” construct.  To be a racist now simply means to be a white person. Systemic racism comes from being American. To protect our democracy means we must destroy our Representative Republic. To defend the Constitution means we trample it underfoot.

“War Is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance Is Strength.” (1984)

American history is now reinterpreted according to the “Party’s” 1619 Project narrative. Statues, our American history and heritage—the good, bad, and ugly—all must be destroyed and memory-holed.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” (1984)

This is why this cabal, and anyone under their protection, can hypocritically spew out endless hateful and enflamed rhetoric without any fear of repercussion. If you’re Antifa or BLM activists, burning cities, destroying private property, bullying its citizens with violence, waving signs that say “Death to America!”, that’s called “peaceful protest.” But if you’re a Trump supporter, you’re a fascist terrorist, an insurrectionist. You must be sent to the Ministry of Love to be reprogrammed, or just be unpersoned.

“The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink.” (Wikipedia)

Feel like you’re being gaslighted yet?

“Hate speech” means engaging in thoughtcrimes. Thoughtcrimes are any violation of political correctness. This includes anything said, or even implied, that doesn’t comply with the Party Newspeak narrative. Big Tech and their partisan “fact-checkers” are the Thought Police who enforce the Newspeak narrative.

And what is the ultimate end of this continual destruction of words?

“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.” (1984)

This cabal was not heroically defeating a political party, but the latest version of a Populist movement. While they won the election for Biden, bringing with him the return of this Orwellian globalist cabal to power, who have their tentacles wrapped around every aspect of our economy and culture; they utterly failed to wipe out the movement. More on that another time.

For now, we’ll just have to party like it’s 1984.

And now we understand more fully the depth of Shakespeare’s long ago words, ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive.’ There are ‘powers’ of darkness aligned with mankind’s worst shenanigans whenever thirst for power, greed, treachery and deception are afoot. In short, this ain’t no ordinary ‘Swamp’. The theft of the 2020 election was long-schemed, has more twists and turns than the Grand Canyon, and is as diabolically murky and deadly as hell’s darkest deepest abyss.

    • Mel Wild says:

Very true! It has been going on for a long time. Trump just came and exposed it for what it was. And both Democrats and Republicans were implicated. The good news is, this vile Swamp was exposed and the fight in at least mitigating against its evil machinations are far from over.

As Maximillian Robespierre said, “The secret to freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret to tyranny is in keeping them ignorant.” The more people’s eyes are opened to what’s going on, the less power this cabal will have on them. And, in Christ, we are free indeed!

This was spot on Mel, a really insightful summation of events. The every similarities of our world today with a “fictional” 1984 are just surreal too. I just finished the audio book version which helped me to understand how closely leftism follows the same playbook throughout history.

    • Mel Wild says:

Thanks Tricia. What’s interesting about the book was that Orwell himself was a committed Socialist, so in exposing Nazi fascism (which is a form of socialism) in his day, he was also exposing the ultimate end to very ideology he himself embraced. In an interview, Orwell felt that the world would eventually be taken over by this totalitarian form of Socialism (“IngSoc,” which stands for “English Socialism”). This was at least a decade before socialist ideas took hold in European governments. He wasn’t a believer so he only considered human nature without God, that people’s lust for power would eventually enslave the rest who want security more than freedom. I’m afraid he was spot-on about the world’s trajectory; that is, if we don’t wake people up and educate them.

It’s tragically sad how many young people think Democratic Socialism is the way to go in America. They’ve been brainwashed their whole life to hate our country and our ideals. They naively embrace Neo-Marxist ideas about social justice, equal outcome, political correctness, Critical Race Theory, intersectionality, cancel culture, etc, without even understanding what these really are—divisive, prejudicial, and racist! They’re woefully ignorant and misinformed about the evils of this Neo-Marxist ideology and where it always ultimately leads a nation that goes down its path. They’re like the proverbial frogs being slowly cooked in the kettle.

Hopefully, we can all do our small bit to reverse this by reaching outside of our own echo chambers and having conversations with them about this. It has to start with our own families. I thank God for people like Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens, PragerU, and others, who are going onto campuses and doing this very thing. Many students are starting to wake up.

      • Tricia says:

Agreed Mel, we need to start somewhere and people are waking up. Albeit very slowly…

And yes, Orwell being a dedicated Socialist even after he predicted its eventual outcome has always puzzled me.

        • Mel Wild says:

I have to give Orwell some slack on his personal views. At least during his lifetime, socialism hadn’t been fully tried and found to be a miserable failure where ever it’s tried in all it’s variations. People today, however, don’t have that excuse. There’s plenty of data to show where it eventually leads. Like a cancer it destroys every culture and economy where it fully takes hold.

  3. Good post, Mel. What fun, we shall just have to drag out some oldies and rock on!

The really good news about 1984, the opposite of, “But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought,” is actually the gospel. Language really can corrupt thought and serve a really good purpose if the thoughts you are trying to corrupt are false. That’s why we speak life and truth over ourselves and prophesy good news and engage in the renewing of our minds. I love how Jesus is the Word too, about how we have the written Word and the living Word, and how all of creation was actually spoken into existence. So words do have tremendous power.

I like to remind people that at the end of that movie “Gaslight,” Ingrid Bergman has the bad guy tied to a chair and she realizes he’s done such a good job of having her certified insane, she can’t be legally charged with a crime anymore. Darkly humorous, but God does work for good all things.

    • Mel Wild says:

“Good post, Mel. What fun, we shall just have to drag out some oldies and rock on!”

It does feel a bit like what Prince was describing sometimes…not knowing if we’re dreaming this awful dystopian world or just waking up to it…

“I was dreamin’ when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray
But when I woke up this morning
I could have sworn it was judgement day
      The sky was all purple
      There were people runnin’ everywhere
Tryin’ to run from the destruction
And you know I didn’t even care

      Cause they say…
2000 zero zero, party over, oops, out of time
So tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1999…”

Amen on the opposite of the corruption of words. The Truth is the gospel, the Truth makes us free! It is the Word that said, let their be light! It’s the same Word that holds our molecules together right now. The same Word that divides the soul from the spirit, discerning the thoughts and intents of everything we do….

So…I’m not afraid or worried. 🙂

I also love what you said about Ingrid Bergman’s character in Gaslight! Yes! We’re Ingrid Bergman! God is genius in this way, He does eventually turn everything on its head for good. It’s funny how Hollywood can show us these things, even if they don’t mean to!

I wrote a post on the “Time Magazine” article Mel Wild writes about here from a different perspective => https://citizentom.com/2021/02/06/a-laser-like-focus/.

What is Mel’s perspective? Judge for yourself. Judge for yourself what it means like it is 1984.
