We’ve started singing “Raise a Hallelujah” by Jonathan and Melissa Helser. I love the message it brings, and I also love the story behind it. Jonathan talks about a small boy named Jaxon. He received a text from Jaxon’s parents saying that unless there’s a miracle, Jaxon’s not making it through the night. Two-year-old Jaxon Taylor was dying from an E.Coli infection.
Joel Taylor, Jaxon’s father and CEO of Bethel Music, said they needed a Christmas miracle and sent out the news to his network.
Jonathan goes on to say in an interview on Facebook: “I remember standing at this crossroads and feeling like this giant of unbelief was standing in front of me. And in the face of this giant, a melody just erupted out of my heart….
I raise a hallelujah in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah Heaven comes to fight for me.”
Jonathan’s wife, Melissa, continues…“Those moments, even though they’re really hard, something within us rises up. The only option is that we have to worship…” Jonathan continues, “It wasn’t a song writing session. It was fighting for our friend’s son’s life….
I’m gonna sing in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes hope will arise
Death is defeated the King is alive!”

Jaxon did miraculously pull through and is totally free from the infection. I thought this song would be a good followup to my post about the movie, “Breakthrough.” You can also read a CBN News article about Jaxon’s remarkable story here. Also, a Fox News article can be found here.
Here’s a live video clip of Jonathan and Melissa introducing the song (Jaxon and parents are shown in the audience). No matter where you find yourself right now, my prayer is that you are encouraged by it. Let it be your anthem of praise in the middle of the storm.
We started singing this at church some weeks ago and it was so moving to be reminded of the strength God equips us with… To worship during tribulation is such evidence of His powerful peace and peaceful power. Love this song!
Amen. It is a great reminder and a powerful anthem.
Praise and Glory unto our Christ Jesus who Heals.:)
