The War Is Over

The war is over. His love has come, to call us daughters and sons. No longer orphans without a home; we have found where we belong.” These are some of the lyrics of Josh Baldwin’s song, “The War Is Over” from his new solo album release of the same title. I thought it an appropriate song as we in the US honor our loved ones who have died in battle in order to preserve our freedom.

13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. (John 15:13 NKJV)

While we still must fight in this world to contain evil, in reality, the real war is over. The real enemy that held us in captivity to our own orphan fears and bondage to sin has been defeated. Do you know this?

It is finished, it is done
The blood of Jesus overcomes
It is finished, He has won
He has won

Real peace is found in Jesus Christ. For the war that begets war rages deep in the hearts of humankind. But the evil perpetrator of this ancient subterfuge has been defeated…if only we will believe and trust the One who is called Love.

He has made a way for us
Born for glory out of dust
Children held within the arms of Peace
He has made a way for all
Mercy waits where sinners fall
He is our Victory

True victory does not come by force, but by surrender. This is the path of true freedom, peace, and victory. For we fight from victory and our greatest weapon is our peace.

As the old hymn goes, “He breaks the power of canceled sin.” All your sins were canceled, once and for all (Rom.6:10; 2 Cor.5:19; Heb.7:27). And all your sins were in the future when they were canceled on the Cross. But, just as important, His divine power lives in you to free you from its effect in your life.

The war is over. Beloved, do you believe this? You are not a powerless victim, waiting for death to be your savior from sin. You are not an orphan, hoping God will come through. You are His child, born for glory out of dust…so rise up! Stop listening to the lies that keep you needlessly bound. Stop giving the accuser authority in your life out of ignorance or unbelief. Christ is your life (Rom.6:1-14; Col.3:1-3). Take off your grave clothes and walk in His victory!
