God is revealing our true colors

Fall_2014_4Recently someone pointed out something about autumn leaves that made me think about what God is doing in this hour.

I live in an area that is absolutely beautiful in the autumn. Besides our many rivers, hills, and majestic soaring bald eagles, the leaves turn brilliant colors of red, orange, and yellow.  The photos here are ones I took with my phone on a recent walk through our town, but you can see more professional photos of what I mean here.

What was pointed out to me is that these beautiful colors are actually the leaves true colors. In other words, green is not their true color. Doing a little research, I found this to be true. Here’s an excerpt from an article that I found here.

Fall_2014_2“As the days get shorter, the tree does not have enough sunlight to make food for itself. Rather than struggle to make food through the winter, it shuts down. It stops producing chlorophyll and allows its fall leaves to die. When the tree stops producing chlorophyll, the green color leaves the foliage and you are left with the “true color” of the leaves.

Leaves are naturally orange and yellow. The green just normally covers this up.”

What’s interesting to me about this is that what is hidden is revealed in full maturity.

And this made me think of the film, Sons of God, that I talked about in my last post, and how Paul tells us that all of creation is waiting for the sons of God to be revealed. Let’s look at this verse (bold-type added).

“For the earnest expectation
of the creation eagerly waits
for the revealing of the sons of God.“ (Rom.8:19 NKJV)

There are two words here we should consider more closely.

Revealing – ἀποκάλυψις (apokalypsis) – besides meaning appearance, can also mean a disclosure, revelation, spiritual enlightenment.
Sons – υἱός (hyios) – means “a son as implying connection in respect of membership, service, resemblance, manifestation, destiny.

Could it be that this “revealing” has to do with spiritual enlightenment, disclosure and revelation about connection, resemblance and destiny?

And if this is true, to whom is this being revealed?

Could it be to you and me?

I like how the Message paraphrase Bible renders John 1:12 (Bold-type added).

“But whoever did want him,
who believed he was who he claimed
and would do what he said,
He made to be their true selves,
their child-of-God selves.
These are the God-begotten,
not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten,
not sex-begotten.“ (John 1:12 MSG)

In the more traditional rendering of John 1:12 there are key words to also consider that I think bear this out.

Received –  λαμβάνω (lambanō) – to accept, to put on, seize, take up
Right – ἐξουσία (exousia) – power, authority, ability
Become – γίνομαι (ginomai) – to come into existence; to be created, exist by creation, to arise, come on, occur, as the phenomena of nature, etc.

This means that sons of God immediately “come into existence” when they accept what God says about them, arising by seizing and “putting on” this new identity by faith, walking in the authority and power of their Father in heaven as a new race of beings (Gr. kainos – of a unique order, unprecedented – 2 Cor.5:17), of which Christ is the firstborn (Rom.8:29; Col.1:18).

Putting these two statements of Scripture together, what all of creation is waiting for is for the sons of God to finally get it— to see their true colors, their child-of-God selves. To know that we’re no longer orphans, we’re beloved sons of the Most High God!

Here’s the thing. Even though we already are fully-authorized sons of God, we may not know it. An orphan may be biologically born of a king yet live like a homeless beggar under a bridge. Then after many years, the king’s messenger may search him out and when he finally finds him, he reveals his true identity to him.

This is what this revealing means.  I believe we’re waking up from centuries of  homeless beggar religion that we’ve called the Christian life, to the glory and power of His royal life, because the King’s messenger–His Spirit–has sought us out in order to bring out our true colors.

To finally actually see, believe and walk out the reality that, “as He is, so are we in this world”  (1 John 4:17)

Beloved, is all of creation waiting for you and me to see our true colors? To come into maturity, finally seeing our inseparable connection and resemblance to our heavenly Father?

I do believe we are living in a day where we’re finally leaving this darkened mindset of orphan-hearted religion that separates us from God. We’re finally learning how to live the exchanged life in our heavenly Father’s embrace–to where we love like Him, talk like Him, see like Him, bringing His splendor, His magnificence and His glory everywhere we walk on this earth.

“Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
“For behold, darkness will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
“Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Isa.60:1-3 NASB)

This is truly an exciting time to be alive if you will just open the eyes of your heart to it. All of creation is yearning for us to get this. Please get this!

Jesus is the Light and Desire of the Nations, and He lives in you and is your life. And this reality is absolutely beautiful to behold!

  1. Great word… we’re discovering our true identity. He is truly making all things new… we’re being transformed by the Re-New-ing of our minds.

And consider: “When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” – Col 3:4

My paraphrase: Whenever (every time) Jesus appears (shows Himself) to us… and every time that He discloses another attribute of Himself to be true, we also appear in (are changed into) that same glory (likeness).

It’s happening!!!!! Jesus body/wife is finding out who we really are!!!

Try this one: If God said, “Do not be unequally yoked”(II Cor 6:14), then it wouldn’t be right for Father to marry His Son to anyone who wasn’t equal to the Son.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This thing is getting good-er and good-er!

    • Mel Wild says:

Amen Mark. And “WOW!” is the appropriate expression! We’re realizing that the Good News is a LOT good-er that we first thought. 🙂

  2. Wow. I never knew that about the leaves and green not being their true color and I love your analogy with it. We are sons and daughters of God and the more mature we become in Christ the more that identity will become evident to the world around us! Thank you for sharing this Mel. Have a blessed day!

    • Mel Wild says:

Thanks Anna. It blew my mind when I heard it too. I think God is trying to tell us something, using the seasons to show us prophetically what season we are in. Blessings to you too!

Definitely time to arise and shine! What even more amazing is that more and more sons and daughters ARE waking up! Yay! And I love the bit about the trees true colors–never heard that before, but so very cool. (And PS–I’m SO jealous. I love Fall but it is still above 80 degrees here most days. The poor trees don’t know what to do :/ )

“And PS–I’m SO jealous. I love Fall but it is still above 80 degrees here most days. The poor trees don’t know what to do” Haha…you won’t be jealous in February when everything is frozen over! But I do love all the seasons for their uniqueness here (including about half of our winter!) Thanks. Blessings.

  4. Mel, this is a powerful post. I hope you don’t mind, but in a couple of weeks, I’d like to link to this in my post on Colossians. This will be a perfect “filling out” of that future post (Nov 14). It is so beautiful to think about this as a maturing into my true colors as God has created me – his perfect canvas, as yet unfinished, but in the making. Just love this. Thank you.

    • Mel Wild says:

Thanks. And, yes, absolutely. Link away. 🙂 Much appreciated. I look forward to what you have to say about Colossians.
It is very cool to think about. We are His beautiful canvas on display for all the world to see–in brilliant heavenly colors.
Btw, it’s amazing to me that you have posts planned out to Nov.14th. Must be nice to be that organized. I don’t even know what I’m going to post from one day to the next. LOL!
      Blessings.

    • 😀 That’s why I do series posts. Otherwise I’d be totally disorganized. I usually go back and review them a few days before to add and edit, but if I don’t plan them out, I’d never know either. And if I had to do daily posts? Fuggeddabboudit! 😉

Gooder is not the right Word, rather you need to go to your dictionary — for the Word is More Better. However More Gooder will be adequate as well —- get your head on straight .

Sharing in true spirit delightful fun here – but would we not have our heads on backwards , to have been led astray, rejected to say, from the Soul Train Car/Bus Car, left alone on the side of the road lost, and to be looking for a Home, world love revealing. Revealing ourselves there of, set yourself free, be who you are, let your true colors shine ” in and of the flesh body ” – with our heritage, the color of our skin, nationality ….. to reveal, express ourselves ( and oh my gosh, that new creture that we come up with ) —- ” When The Light Comes on In The City ” might be a good title for a book. The City Within Us, the little church/temple of God where Jesus’ ministers, the little school where he is the principal, head master and the Holy Motherly Divine Spirit, the teacher ….. and each one of course would need the lights to turn on Illuminating the Darkness ( seek yea first ,,,,) —- An awesome article, writing, messenger , delivery boy, you have been here my friend, just where I was looking for affirmation, greater clarification as God would be inspiring me to this morning. —- maybe I can get the chance to read your book, but for now I must be busy with my own life book, Little Big Book I do think of it, each ones little bible guide manual, of course in line, documented by the Big Book, Bible — first God must take care of our own business, revelation, revealing one page at a time, one little peace of the puzzle of life, for reconciliation, bringing us back together in Truth of being Our True Colors shining through from within – and of course we know who the Higher Power Source would be and to need a transformer at our house, and intercessor to brake down the voltage so we can connect —- Thanks Again, for your awesome insight God is reveling in leading you true, Awesome Good News would like to hear you speak some times. God Bless and again, Thanks, Garry
