Ukraine prayer updates

PrayforUkraineMarch 15, 2014 update: Please pray for the referendum coming up Sunday over whether Crimea stays with Ukraine or goes with Russia. The problem is, any sentiment to stay with Ukraine has been totally stifled. Pray that the real desires of all people in Crimea are realized. Most of all, pray for freedom. Read stories here

March 7, 2014 update: Please pray for the people of Crimea right now. I have friends in Yalta and Simferopol. Please pray for their protection. Putin is obviously putting pressure on Crimea to become part of Russia and leave Ukraine. Freedom of speech is being attacked. It’s not good. It’s turning into a police state.  There is also a referendum coming up to vote on Crimea leaving Ukraine which is possibly illegal.  News story here

March 4, 2014 update: Latest updates from Kyiv Post …Also, US News on Ukraine situation today (Washington Post)…

March 3,  2014 update: It looks very much like Putin wants to take Crimea from Ukraine.  Now the Russian military is issuing an ultimatum for Ukrainian troops to leave by 5:00 AM March 4th or be attacked. Please pray!

March 1, 2014:Please keep praying for Ukraine. Lots going on. As you probably know, it looks like Putin is apparently trying to take control of Crimea to protect Russian citizens and military interests on the Black Sea there. (It’s funny, we’ve ministered in one of the Russian naval auditoriums in Yalta for a pastor’s conference years ago.)

I have friends in both Russia and Ukraine, so it’s heartbreaking to me to see this escalating like this between governments.

Please continue to pray for this escalation to stop on all sides and for freedom and peace for Ukraine. You can read an article in today’s Kyiv Post here…

On the news right now: “Russia’s upper house of parliament has approved President Putin’s request for Russian forces to be used in Ukraine.” I am asking all Christians of all nationalities to pray for Ukraine.

Amen, brother. Everyone needs to be praying. This is a critical stage. It could go either way right now–a very unstable situation with lots of pressure toward escalation.

  2. Thanks, Mel. Will get this out on Twitter, FB.
