Prayer update: peace in Ukraine!

PrayforUkrainePlease keep the people of Ukraine in your prayers. Because it’s working! There’s been a breakthrough today.

Praise God! For He the answers the prayer of His beloved!

According to NBC News, President Viktor Yanukovych signed a deal with Ukraine’s opposition leaders today to put an end to the violence that has led to 77 people killed. He agreed to early elections and to surrender some of his powers.

According to an NBC News article this morning, here’s what was agreed to:

  • Within 48 hours Ukraine must revert to its 2004 constitution, meaning some of Yanukovych’s powers will be given over to parliament. This was passed by parliament shortly after the deal.
  • A coalition government will be formed in the next 10 days and presidential elections will be brought forward from March 2015 until no later than December.
  • Illegal weapons must be handed in and there will also be an investigation into the deadly violence that has dominated Kiev this week.

The Kyiv Post also has more information on the agreement (“Embattled Yanukovych, opposition sign deal to end political crisis“)

Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. And please keep interceding until all is resolved and the people of Ukraine are living in all the freedoms promised. Also, please pray for healing–physical, emotional, and political–and full restoration and peace.

Let His kingdom come in power in Ukraine! Let freedom reign!

I will update if there are any significant changes or prayer alerts from my missionary friends. Otherwise, you can keep up to date on news by checking the Kyiv Post.

Blessings,
Mel

Thank you for giving us the condensed version and good insights. YES, let’s pray for our brothers and sister there. Blessings to you, brother

You’re very welcome. I, too, would rather have the salient prayer points than have to wade through all the details. And I would also like to be equally aware of all global issues affecting the body of Christ but that’s not realistic. Ukraine is one of the handful of countries near and dear to my heart. Thanks for joining us in prayer and blessings to you too! 🙂
