Compelled by Love | Heidi Baker

I haven’t recommended a movie on this blog yet so I thought I would start with one that was just released and one I think is vital for all believers to see. The movie is a documentary about Heidi Baker’s life (Iris Global ministries). I’ve included the official teaser video below.

In all my years as a Christian I have never seen someone so in love with Jesus, so committed to saying “yes” to Him in all things and so effective for the Kingdom of God.

Heidi and her husband, Rolland, started Iris Global ministries in the atheist, war-torn, impoverished nation of Mozambique. They’ve been shot at, stoned, beaten, exposed to deadly disease but their relentless courage and faith has resulted in first transforming a nation through the Father’s love with well-drilling, free health clinics that service the poor and sick, feeding programs, primary and secondary schools, cottage industries and now over 10,000 churches in Mozambique and in over 30 nations. They have also established mission bases around the world and schools to train missionaries to do the same.

This movie will inspire you, motivate you, touch your heart, bring tears of joy and draw you further into the heart of God. It’s infectious with God’s love because Heidi Baker is infectious with God’s love! I will let the official statement about this movie describe it for you.

Compelled by Love (2014) is a powerful, inspiring and definitive portrait of Heidi Baker, a modern day Mother Teresa, whose ministry is based in over 30 nations around the world. Shot on the run over a period of 20 years, in 10 countries and on 4 continents in war zones, brothels, bushes, and Ivy League campuses, from Hollywood to Mozambique, this film transcends all political, religious and social barriers. Follow Rolland and Heidi Baker’s journey into the world’s darkest and most desperate places, as their pursuit of the presence of God has transformed a nation through love in action. The film chronicles the power of one life fully yielded to God and the truth that love wins.

The documentary is narrated by Reinhard Bonnke and features interviews with ministry friends of Rolland and Heidi Baker including Mel Tari, Bill Johnson, Kris Vallotton, Georgian Banov, Stacey Campbell, Randy Clark, Sean Feucht, Mattheus Van der Steen, John and Carol Arnott, Julie Meyer and many others.

I’ve watched the documentary and it is by far the best treatment of Heidi Baker’s life I’ve seen and I  highly recommend you buy it, download it, watch it, show it at your church, and even see how you can get involved in Iris Global ministries.

You can go the movie site and see where it’s being screened around the world or download it here

There is no one that I know of that exemplifies Paul’s statement here than Heidi Baker’s life.

“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” (2 Cor.5:14-15 NKJV)

About Mel Wild

God's favorite (and so are you), a son and a father, happily married to the same beautiful woman for 42 years. We have three incredible adult children. My passion is pursuing the Father's heart in Christ and giving it away to others. My favorite pastime is being iconoclastic and trailblazing the depths of God's grace. I'm also senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in Wisconsin.

Reblogged this on Dead Citizen's Rights Society.

I’ve seen this and it’s really well done, both in content and in artistic expression.

  3. Wow. This sounds like an incredible movie! I love the fact that there are more faith based movies coming out these days. This world needs a little less of the worldliness that is portrayed in films and more films on things that really make a difference in life. Thank you for sharing this Mel. Be blessed!

You’re welcome, Anna. As I said, it’s an amazing documentary showing the transforming nature of the Father’s love. Speaking of Hollywood, Iris MediaWorks is a ministry to Hollywood producing movies and documentaries. Another great film producer is Darren Wilson of Wanderlust Productions. I may feature some of those films in the future. Blessings.

Ha, ha–I mentioned this movie recently too. It about did me in … in a good way!

    • Mel Wild says:

Amen. It messed me up too, that’s for sure! It’s so inspiring and motivating, showing what one person can do from a place of intimacy and rest. We’re playing it at our church at the end of February. Looking forward to seeing it again. I think it’s a must-see film for everyone. That’s why it’s good we spread the word. 🙂
